IL PAESE DEL SESSO SELVAGGIO aka THE MAN FROM THE DEEP RIVER (1972)

An Italian photographer is captured by a primitive tribe somewhere in the deep jungle between Thailand and Burma on an attempt to photograph local wildlife. After a while he becomes part of the isolated community joining their customs and way of life. Soon he becomes the favorite warrior and defender of the tribe. The movie was shot on location with the help of a real tribe. Though the story is imaginary the rituals are portrayed as they are actually carried out. Directed by Umberto Lenzi. Written by Francesco Barilli and Massimo D'Avak. Starring Ivan Rassimov, Me Me Lai and Prasitsak Singhara. Some of the shots were also used in "Eaten alive" (1980) by the same director and almost the same cast...
